I was privileged to be part of a group of folks who helped the National Wildlife Federation put together a valuable study, "Practical Guidance for Coastal Climate-Smart Conservation Projects in the Northeast - Case Examples for Coastal Impoundments and Living Shorelines."  This is a great resource for folks working along the Atlantic Coast to conserve habitat.  It gives a good overview of the challenges and provides some potential solutions, delving into the use of living shorelines as one adaptation to sea level rise.

These coastal impoundments are found all along the Atlantic coast and these habitats are all coming under pressure from climate change.

This report, is part of a larger effort by the National Wildlife Federation and the Manomet Center for Conservation Sciences.  This report follows a 2008 report on Climate Change impacts on the Chesapeake Bay, put together by the National Wildlife Federation - a "must read" for anyone doing work in the Chesapeake Bay region.
