Native Plants for Southeast Virginia Guide
The newly revised Native Plants for Southeast Virginia including the Hampton Roads Region is now available as part of the Plant Hampton Roads (HR) Natives campaign. The 72-page, full-color guide features native plant profiles, curated plant lists for specific growing conditions, and a regional list of local sites that highlight native plants and plant communities. It is available as a free digital download.
The guide is a key outreach component of the campaign, an effort to increase both the use and availability of native plants in the region, and it is part of a statewide initiative overseen by the Coastal Zone Management Program. Wetlands Watch became the regional campaign coordinator last year and led a team of local experts in revising the guide, which was published in December. The full campaign includes resources for campaign partners, homeowners, neighborhood groups, and other stakeholders interested in increasing conservation landscapes in the region, available on our website.
Organizations wishing to become campaign partners can reach out to Stacie McGraw, Director of Living Infrastructure. Partners use their own outreach and education programs to extend the reach of the campaign and receive Plant HR Natives branded materials that identify them as official partners. They also have access to discounted pricing for printed copies of the guide. Individuals who prefer a hard copy can purchase one through the ordering link.
