Maeve Stiles
Maeve is dedicated to making the world a better place through protecting and conserving the nature we live within and ensuring that we are prepared for the threats of global warming and sea level rise. Growing up in Norfolk, Virginia, Maeve wants to build flood resilience efforts to ease transport and improve water quality with threats of runoff and debris. She is working with Wetlands Watch to grow awareness of sea level rise threats and make actions to address it accessible and widespread.
Maeve currently pursues contract work for Wetlands Watch, focusing on the intersection of wetlands efforts and policy as well as funding across Virginia for flood resilience and wetland conservation projects. She works remote from Seattle, Washington where she frequently engages with nature through hiking, biking and running and brings a unique perspective of ongoing policy efforts in Washington State to Wetlands Watch’s mission. She holds a B.A in Biology and Biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.S from the University of Washington in Bioengineering where she pursued Varsity Cross Country and Track and Field at both Universities. In congruence with her work with Wetlands Watch, she serves as Program Coordinator for the nonpartisan civic nonprofit, The Team, expanding community engagement and civic participation by student athletes across their college communities. She also works part time for the Wayne Lab at the University of Washington, exploring the responses of immune cells to the fibrotic environment.
