Tide Captains are amplifiers and leaders for Wetlands Watch’s Catch the King community science program. They are volunteers or partners at other organizations who attend additional training to become more involved with Catch the King.
In 2026, we are updating the role and focusing on equipping Tide Captains with tools, knowledge, and expertise to help us recruit and train more volunteers before the mapping begins. Training will expand on your current knowledge and show you behind the scenes tools and strategies in 2.5 hours. You will then be provided with presentation slides, sample advertisement, and instructions for how to lead your own volunteer training (usually ~1 hour) and outreach. This training will also be recorded for you to reference or if you are unable to attend. Past Tide Captains are encouraged to join to get up to date information.
Please be sure you've reviewed the Tide Captain role sheet and feel free to start your own self-studying! You will receive a calendar invite before the event begins.
